German Federal Police publishes report on successful train station trial

A report on the results of a video surveillance trial run by the German Federal Police was published this July 11th. Three face recognition systems, including Cognitec’s FaceVACS-Alert, were tested during four months at the main railway station of Mainz, Germany. The overall result reported was an identification rate of 60%, based on a gallery (‘watch list’) of 200 enrolled persons. The system was
using a threshold to achieve a False Alarm Rate (FAR) of 0.1%, so that only one out of 1,000 events would generate a false alarm to the operator.
